FORHAIR FUE Patient Guide 

 

Pre-operation Instruction

 

 

 

In order for us to provide you with the highest quality medical care and to ensure that all the best conditions are maintatined before FUE, we ask you to follow the instructions below.

 

 

 

 

• Do not take health supplements (multi-vitamins, herbs, fish oils), Aspirin or any other anti-infalmmatory medications 3 days prior to your procedure.

Many prescription or non-prescription over the counter products such as Advil, Alka-Seltzer, Bufferin, Excedrin, Empirin, Nu-Prin, Mortin, Ibuprofen, etc., should be avoided.

 

• If you have medical conditions that requires you to take medications, please notify the office. It is possible you will be asked to discontinue a certain medication after your doctor's review. 

 

• Finasteride/Dutasteride: you can continue taking the tablets. 

 

• Monxidil solution: you need to stop using it 2 weeks prior to your procedure. You can resume the use after 1 month.

 

 

 

 

• Do not smoke any tobacco proucts including electronic cigarette at least 3 days prior to your procedure

 

• Do not drink any alcoholic beverage at least 3 days prior to your procedure.

Smoking and drinking after the procedure for 1 month is also recommended as they have an adverse effect on hair loss and recovery: drinking may cause bleeding and swelling after FUE, and smoking causes blood vessels to consrict (become more narrow) resulting in lower graft survival rate. 

 

 

 

 

• If you have any drug allergy, please notify us. 

 

• If you have any medical conditions, please notify us. Medical conditions include but are not limited to: high blood pressure, heart murmur, diabetes, blood disorders (easy clotting etc.), Hepatitis, Asthma, Epilepsy, Liver problems, or any condition that you are under a doctor’s care for.

Such as, if you are taking any medication to treat depression, high blood pressure or other medical condition, please notify us all the medication/treatment you're currently taking. 

 

• If you plan to have another procedure (surgical or non-surgical) prior to FUE or after FUE, please notify us. 

 

 

 

 

• You must have a good rest and enough sleep the night before.

 

• Avoid heavy exercise/workout.

 

• When you wash your hair, take 5-10 minutes to massage your head(donor site) to soften the scalp.

 

 

 

 

• For those  who have chosen 'partial shaven method', front and back hair length are minimum 5cm. Please keep your hair longer than 5cm to disguise the surgery area better. Recommended back hair length is 7-9cm.

 

• For those who have chosen 'Zero shaven method', still long hair is better to disguise the surgery area. 

 

• For those with much white hairs, please hair dye to the roots (scalp) 2 days prior to your procedure.

 

 

 

 

 

 IMPORTANT 

 

If these instructions are not followed, we may need to cancel your surgery when you arrive on the day of FUE session for your safety at your cost. Therefore, contact us if you have questions or are uncertain.
