FORHAIR FUE Patient Guide 

 

Pre-operation Instruction

 

 

 

In order for us to provide you with the highest quality medical care and to ensure optimal conditions before your FUE, we kindly ask that you to follow the instructions below.

 

 

 

 

• Do not take health supplements (such as multivitamins, herbs or fish oils), aspirin or any other anti-infalmmatory medications for 3 days prior to your procedure.

Prescribed medications or non-prescription over-the-counter products, such as Advil, Alka-Seltzer, Bufferin, Excedrin, Empirin, Nu-Prin, Mortin, Ibuprofen, etc., should be avoided.

 

• If you have medical conditions that require you to take medications, please notify the office. You may be asked to discontinue certain medications after your doctor's review. 

 

• Finasteride/Dutasteride: you can continue taking these tablets. 

 

• Monxidil solution: you need to stop using it 2 weeks prior to your procedure. You can resume use after 1 month.

 

 

 

 

• Do not smoke any tobacco proucts, including electronic cigarette, at least 3 days prior to your procedure.

 

• Do not drink any alcoholic beverage at least 3 days prior to your procedure.

Smoking and drinking after the procedure for 1 month is also recommended as they have an adverse effect on hair growth and recovery. Drinking may cause bleeding and swelling after FUE, while smoking causes blood vessels to consrict (narrow), resulting in a lower graft survival rate. 

 

 

 

 

• If you have any drug allergies, please notify us. 

 

• If you have any medical conditions, please notify us. Medical conditions include, but are not limited to, high blood pressure, heart murmur, diabetes, blood disorders (such as easy clotting), hepatitis, asthma, epilepsy, liver problems, or any condition for which you are under a doctor’s care.

 

• If you plan to undergo any other procedures (surgical or non-surgical) prior to or after your FUE, please notify us. 

 

 

 

 

• You should get plenty of rest and sleep the night before.

 

• You may excercise the day before your FUE, but please avoid any intense or heavy workouts.

 

• When you wash your hair, spend 5-10 minutes massaging your scalp (donor site) to help soften the area before FUE.

 

 

 

 

• For those  who have chosen 'partial shave,' the front and back hair length should be a minimum of 5cm. Please keep your hair longer than 5cm to better disguise the surgery area. The recommended back hair length is 7-9cm.

 

• For those who have chosen 'none shave', longer hair is still preferable to better disguise the surgery area. 

 

• For those who have chosen 'fully shave', the hair will be shaved on the day of your surgery by the medical team. Please do not shave before the surgery day.

 

• For those with a lot of white hair, please dye the roots (scalp) a day prior to your procedure.

 

 

 

 

 

 IMPORTANT 

 

If these instructions are not followed, we may need to cancel your surgery on the day of FUE session for your safety, at your expense. Therefore, please contact us if you have any questions or are uncertain.
